Christine Doolanis a well-established Aboriginal Artist. ‘Women Collecting Water’ is one of her best artworks. Her depiction of waterholes, women sitting with digging sticks, bush foods, flowers, etc. are detailed and decorative.
Water is very precious in Northern Territory. Aboriginal people know how to get water from underground. Also they watch wild bird’s movements in some areas to locate the availability of water nearby. However, Alice Spring can experience heavy rainfall in summer months. Just after the rain you can witness abundant of beautiful flower blossom almost everywhere in various colours. The beautiful array of colours is a memorable experience. Christine depicted the natural scenic view very well with women sitting on the ground with digging sticks seeking water all around.
