Horizon Devices Apex Preamp

The Horizon Devices Apex Preamp is an incredibly versatile preamp pedal, designed by Prog Metal legend Misha Mansoor.

Plug the Apex straight into a clean amp to EQ your tone, and dial in the gain, for tight, crushing riffs. Plug it into a dirty amp as a gain stack, or slam on the tight switch for even tighter, more crushing riffs. Plug it straight into an interface, switch on the cab sim, dial in the virtual mic placement to your liking, and get (you guessed it) tight, crushing riffs straight into your DAW. You can even use the Apex, with Cab Sim engaged, to go straight to front-of-house at your next gig. The Apex is great on its own, and it plays nicely with other pedals; just put boosts (like the Horizon Devices Precision Drive) before, and Effects (like the Horizon Devices Flux Echo) after the Apex in your chain.

The Apex Preamp has simple, easy to use controls, that make it easy to dial in your flavour of modern tones. Adjust the 3-Band EQ to taste, and move through the Gain knob for massive amounts of gain. Engage the Tight switch for aggressive riffs, and disengage for buttery licks. Turn the gate left to disengage, or turn right to head towards a mega-tight modern gate. Turn the cab sim left to disengage, or turn to the right to engage, and then adjust the virtual mic placement.
