Ibanez Axe Design Lab SML721 RGC Lite Multi-Scale Electric Guitar Rose Gold Chameleon
Ibanez has long been creating innovations which do not only fit the unique demands of players from that period, but also eventually turn into industrial standards, such as 7 string, 8 string and Multi scale guitars. All of these innovations started from Ibanez's attitude towards creating guitars: "Innovative, Cutting-Edge and Pioneer". Axe Design Lab is the pinnacle of this attitude - this series is full of daring designs that let you in on the forefront of innovative shredders. The Ibanez Axe Design Lab SML721 takes this ethos and runs with it, giving you a lite multi-scale that runs from standard-scale (25.5") to slightly less than standard (25"), providing the ergonomic, playability- and intonation-related benefits of multi-scale designs, without the daunting task of having to dramatically alter your playing style. Ibanez has achieved this design by having a nut that is vertical to the strings, rather than the scale 'fanning out' from the centre of the fretboard like most multi-scales.
The Ibanez Axe Design Lab SML721 RGC Multi-Scale Electric Guitar, finished in a dazzling Rose Gold Chameleon, features a Nyatoh body, providing a thick, warm tonal profile for a set of Ibanez Q58 Passive Ceramic Humbuckers. This incredibly versatile humbucking duo (made all the more versatile by Ibanez's dyna-MIX10 switching system) is typically only found in the ergonomic, headless Quest series of guitars. Clear and articulate, no matter how much gain is thrown at them, these pickups produce powerful mud-free lows, combined with bright and crystalline highs, for singing leads and well-defined chords. The dyna-MIX10 system with alter switch provides 10 distinct tonal profiles, including realistic-sounding single-coil tones via Power Tap mode.
A super-fast and super-thin 5-piece Maple/Walnut Wizard-profile neck, and Rosewood fretboard with 24 Jumbo Jescar EVOgold frets, makes for speedy licks and effortless riffs. A Mono-Rail bridge is designed to maximise stability and sustain, and minimise string cross-talk. Their offset position, combined with the SML721's lite multi-scale design, makes for a guitar that is a dream to intonate. Gotoh MG-T locking machine heads make your tuning even more stable, while luminescent side dot inlays let you see your positioning on the darkest of stages.
At Riffs & Licks Music, we think the Ibanez Axe Design Lab SML721 RGC Lite Multi-Scale Electric Guitar, finished in Rose Gold Chameleon, is a technical guitarists dream. If you've ever thought "I'll never buy a multi-scale guitar," think again! With all the ergonomic, as well as playability- and intonation-related benefits of multi-scale designs, without a daunting alteration in playing style, this innovative new design is sure to win you over.
