Tanglewood strives to ensure that all of their instruments have a high build quality, good playability, attractive cosmetics and as many features as possible, in order to encourage and reward aspiring musicians. Using this design brief, Tanglewood luthiers created the Discovery series, a range of guitars which feature Tanglewood EX-4 preamps, delicate 2mm fingerboard dots, chrome machine heads, understated sound hole rosettes, and modern finishes. All Mahogany bodies are used, which produces both warmth and punch, softening the bass tones while accentuating the all-important midrange.
